The Great Triumph
The successful deployment of AI to curate some fabulous playlists for the upcoming cruise. Gave them a spin this evening and they are absolute, transcendent magnificence. The headphones are well and truly primed for the Mediterranean.
The Culinary Milestone
A week of profound gastronomic highs and lows. Navigated a high-stakes domestic negotiation on Monday to convince Allison that a strawberry has absolutely no business participating in a beef kebab salad. Followed this up on Wednesday with a Greggs chicken bake that was disappointingly, tragically cold. A devastating blow to the afternoon.
The Mundane Tragedies
Where to begin?
- The Bureaucracy: Collected some orange recycling sacks to Elm Park Library. Why we are the only council in the known universe to use orange bags remains a beautiful, baffling mystery.
- The Lost Lanyards: A minor civil war erupted on Saturday when my cruise lanyards mysteriously vanished, accompanied by blanket denials of guilt from the household. Today, a fresh set mysteriously arrived via delivery. A lovely, highly suspicious gesture from Mrs Winegarden. The originals will undoubtedly surface the day we return. Classic move.
- The Suitcase Sabotage: Forced into an emergency luggage swap today because my world-travelling daughter has somehow decimated every single internal zip on the case she lent her mother. If any major luggage brands need a durability tester to stress-test their gear to destruction, she is the ultimate candidate.
The Existential Dread
Writing this while watching Brazil v Norway, with England v Mexico looming large on the horizon. After Canada broke my heart earlier in the week, I am fully prepared for further football-induced emotional collapse.
The Final Word
Suitcases packed. Shutters down. Vanishing completely.
