The Great British Meltdown
The Forecast: Pure Malice
According to the terrifying data in the recent weather forecast
the atmosphere has entirely lost its composure. Tuesday is threatening a spectacular, unhinged 34°C. A tragedy, frankly.

Which brings only one thing to mind:
The Sauna Analogy
Trying to explain London above 30°C to outsiders is an exercise in futility. It is not a glorious, sun-kissed holiday; it is literally sitting inside a damp Swedish sauna whilst wearing a woollen suit. Our architectural heritage is entirely to blame, categorised into three distinct, heat-trapping micro-climates:
- The Plague Defenders: Houses built anciently to keep the Black Death out. They keep the heat in.
- The Blitz Survivors: Post-war fortresses built to deflect WWII bombs. They keep the heat in.
- The "Modern" Ones: Sleek, eco-boxes engineered specifically to retain heat to save the planet.
Classic London move. We are baked alive, structurally. Air conditioning isn't something London homebuilders have ever considered.
Survival Strategies
To survive the impending apocalypse, we must abandon all normal human behaviour and pivot entirely to the absurd.
- The Multiplex Refuge: Hide in a beautifully air-conditioned cinema, watching Toy Story 5 and He-Man back to back.
- The Subterranean Slumber: Sleep directly under the garden sprinkler, looking like two well-fed pigeons caught in a flash flood.
- The Dairy Defense: Slather oneself in ice cream instead of body cream. Intensely sticky, but momentarily freezing.
- The Ultimate Commute: Book a swift, desperate short break to the Halley VI Research Station in Antarctica.
We must endure, sweating profusely. 🥵
