RIP 5520

Today, I bid farewell to my faithful HP 5520 printer, which somehow survived an astonishing 12 years of service. In technology terms, that basically makes it a Victorian steam engine.

Sadly, despite my increasingly desperate attempts at printer surgery, I simply cannot get the black ink to come out anymore. I cleaned it, coaxed it, threatened it, and briefly believed I could bring it back through sheer emotional commitment alone.

 

But alas, the old warrior has printed its final slightly grainy document. 

RIP, old friend. Thank you for your years of loyal service and your wonderfully average 2012-quality prints. You may be gone, but the memory of your painfully slow Wi-Fi connection will live forever.document.
